HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADALYN

When I was in the hospital having a baby a year ago, one of my friends, Kim, was also in labor at the other hospital.   Sweet Kendahl was born just hours after Adalyn so we call them the Birthday Buddies!  So we started off the festivities with Kendahl’s 1st Birthday Party.  Kim was so sweet and brought a cupcake for Adalyn to smash as well.   Kendahl as a little unsure but Adalyn definitely enjoyed hers!

Adalyn and Kendahl….Kendahl was crying because she wanted to be held so Adalyn took it as the perfect opportunity to take some more cupcake.

Then last night we had family over (to Papa and Cinny’s) for a cake smash for Adalyn.

and then she opened a few presents….

threw a few fits (“its my party and I’ll cry if I want to”)
 
opened some more….


and finished it off with another fit! (long day+lots of sugar=tired cranky girl by 730pm)

Big Girl!

Adalyn has always been very strong willed since the day she was born.  She does not take no for an answer.  She pretty much just screams until she gets what she wants. 
One thing she absolutely dislikes is her crib.  She slept in it a few hours each night in the first few months and then she decided no more.  She was done and was not turning back. 

Soooooo, at 11months (and 11days) old, I decided enough was enough and decided once and for all to give up the fight. 
I took down the crib and set up a toddler bed (generously borrowed from Gramma’s house). 

 

We are making progress.  She lasts about 3-5hours a night in it and the occasional hour nap.  Sometimes I lay down with her when she wakes up in the middle of the night (around 3am) and she will go back to sleep for a few more hours….and then sometimes I am just lazy and bring her back to my bed.
